Reviewer Guidelines
Andean Journal of Social Sciences thanks its reviewers for their contribution to the scientific publication process. Peer review is essential to ensure the quality and integrity of published articles.
1. Review Process
AJSS uses a double-blind review system: neither authors know the identity of reviewers nor do reviewers know the identity of authors. All manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent external reviewers.
2. Deadlines
| Stage | Deadline |
|---|---|
| Response to invitation (accept or decline) | 14 days |
| Submission of review report | 30 days |
If you are unable to meet the deadlines, please notify the editor in advance so an alternative reviewer can be found.
3. Evaluation Criteria
- Originality: the work represents a new contribution to knowledge in the social sciences.
- Relevance: the topic falls within the scope of AJSS.
- Methodological rigor: the design is appropriate to the quantitative, qualitative, mixed, or theoretical approach used.
- Theoretical grounding: the theoretical framework is solid, pertinent, and up to date.
- Social implications: the work has clear implications for understanding contemporary social phenomena.
- Clarity: the manuscript is well written and organized.
- References: citations are relevant, up to date, and correctly formatted in APA 7th edition style.
4. Final Recommendation
- Accept: the manuscript can be published without changes or with minor corrections.
- Minor revisions: requires specific corrections without a new review round.
- Major revisions: requires substantial changes and a new review round.
- Reject: does not meet the journal's standards.
5. Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review are confidential documents. They must not be shared with third parties or used for any purpose other than evaluation. The identity of authors and reviewers is kept confidential at all times.
6. Conflict of Interest
If you identify any conflict of interest with the authors, institution, or manuscript content, notify the editor immediately and decline the review.
7. Report Tone and Format
- Number comments to facilitate author responses.
- Distinguish between mandatory observations and optional suggestions.
- Avoid comments that could reveal the reviewer's identity.
- Maintain a constructive, specific, and respectful tone throughout.
